Authorship

Edited until 2 a.m. then took Darren to the airport at 5:30 a.m. on Sunday morning.
Over the last 5 days we completely changed two thirds of the film. Taking it in turns to "drive" we've done an incredible amount of work. I was hoping we'd be done but the changes have been huge and I'm really happy with what we've done.
Up until now we were taking a more hands-off/verite approach but it wasn't working. Verite only works when you're telling a story with a narrow scope and following people's stories in real time. In the case of The Ticket the film deals with past events and ambitious themes. It can only work if we take authorship in the stories. Now that we've done it the difference is amazing. At last it feels like we have a handle on the film.
