Hooray for the Italian Lottery. The prize money advertised is what you actually get after tax - not like in the U.S. where you end up with about third of the money.
On the downside here is the lottery doing what it does best - when economic times are bad it acts as a safety valve. No matter how bad things get there's always the chance that you can become a multi-millionaire. Now municipalities have started to play in the hopes that they can sure up dwindling community finances.
